Just say no

How could anyone say no to this face?

The Princess and the Pea

Somehow, someway, I think we got the story mixed up. I don't think it's supposed to be on her nose...

Face Off

Here is Grumpa showing Sammy the minute details of a jump ball face off. He's starting early, hm? Including "the sticking your tongue out at your opponent".

Time

Last week, Sammy turned 214 days old. Oh, ok, 7 months! Time has flown by for all of us. I tell the kids, "Don't wish for her to start crawling" or "Don't wish for her to start walking" or "Don't wish for her to buy you your first subscription to AARP" ......Wait. That was me. Anyway, my point being, enjoy each day, each moment because they're gone in a blink.

Good News!

I have good news regarding Sofie and her facial disfigurement! Remember a few years back and that woman in France had a face transplant because her dog ate her face while she was passed out? I know!! A DOG...just like Sofie! And Sofie is French! A coincidence? I think not. So Sofie is off to France for a little consult....Au Revoir Sofie!

What's in a name?

We all have names that we tend to call Sammy other than her given name. Grumpa calls her Junior sometimes (What? Were you raised in the South?) Mommy calls her Puntin, Daddy calls her Sambino. Me? I call her Boo Boo. Auntie hates that I call her Boo Boo. She says it sounds like a mistake or an owie. I call Sammy Boo Boo because of this:
She's my little BooBoo Bear!

New outfit?

This little outfit I got Sammy last week. I just love this color peach; particular on this little baby girl. It goes with her coloring so well. But? When I bought it, I was 'just' ok with the polka dots. Most women can not pull off polka dots. What really gets to me now that she has it on, is the neck ruffle. *shudder* and not in any fashion sense whatsoever. Neck ruffles remind you of what?

CLOWNS! That's what.

And not this clown either:

Although, anyone who paints their face like this has some serious mental issues if you ask me. For some reason, my family does not like clowns AT ALL. Never have. Absolutely never will. So when this particular movie was made, it scared the holy cat shit out of me. (this should read, " OUT OF US!")

Notice the neck ruffles?

Blue's Clues

This blanket that Sammy's on is new to her but not to us. Many many many many years ago....Grumpa was a basketball coach at a local high school here. Me? I was about 7 months pregnant with Daddy during that time. At the end of the season, there was a player's dinner whereby the coaches and their wives attended. The boys at that time surprised Grumpa and I with this baby blanket (and no, we had no clue that I was carrying a little boy). We joked that due to the fact that the blanket was BLUE, we had better have a boy. And we did. Now Sammy is using, laying, and drooling upon Daddy's baby blanket.

Skilz

Ok, many of you know that I'm teaching myself Photoshop. I have many pix that need work. Also, most of my pix are of Samantha. And most of those include drool. And if you're around her for any length of time, say, 30 seconds, that drool is a fact of life. She wears a bib most of time. By the time Daddy or Mommy get her at the end of the day, the bib can be wrung out. So, introducing the powder dry photoshop edited version of a Samantha Smile. The original, complete with the line of drool dripping onto her bib and version B. (oh, don't worry...most of the originals with her drool will be posted. That is the 'essence' of Sammy!)

Sofie Update

Poor poor Sofie. Much like Nebraska's Safe-Haven (Child Abandonment) law, so it is here with Sofie. I've patched her up, but as you can see the healing will take time. No plastic surgeon has offered his services. And where's Mommy and Daddy? Pffftt!

(Yes, I know already...too much time on my hands. This is what I do when Sammy's napping!)

A Pea Goatee

I have nothing more to say. Except...she loves peas.

The bees knees

I don't even understand that saying. I've heard it, I assume that it means it (whatever it is) rocks. So anyway...seque-ing this post....awkwardly...

Here is a shot of Sammy's knees. Gives you an idea of how heavy she's getting, hm?

And here is Sammy looking at me after I took those pictures of her knee roll fat. I can only assume that she is thinking, "Seriously, Mimi? My knees? You took a picture of my fat knees?"

Oh, yeah, one more

Can you imagine how many caps she'll have by the time she reaches one year of age? Also? Gymboree sucks you in and won't let you get out without buying something. It is the devil store for me.

Pink Beanie

Pink and blue. How perfect her coloring is for this cap!

Weekend Videos-Sunday

Can you tell that we have fun when it's time to eat? She's interested in tasting anything, it doesn't mean that she'll like it, tho.

Old fashioned toys

Out of the things Sammy has to play with here at Camp Cluster, these two seem to hold her attention the longest. They came with her little seat and are meant for snacks, it seems. But what it reminds me of is Daddy sitting on the floor of our kitchen many many many years ago and playing with some plastic measuring cups. Can't break 'em, they're washable, make noise when you bang them together, and provide hours of entertainment. (hey, and check out those ABS!!)

All by myself

Sammy has been practicing everyday on sitting by herself. She can do it but only for a few seconds before the leaning Tower of Pisa sets in.

Bribery

(ON WITH THE SHOW! Thank God and Greyhound that we kicked that flu bug right away. You know, what with my own personal tech support, Mommy, coming over to give my computer the flu shot)

As all parents know, bribery works on small children. Here I've put Sammy's toys slightly out of reach. Now all she has to do is either start creeping towards them or slap me silly and demand that I hand them over to her pronto.

We pause now for a brief intermission

Mimi's computer has come down with the flu. I'm currently using Grumpa's. This is not good. Grumpa does NOT have the encyclopaedia of photos of Sammy that I do. So until we can kick this bug to the curb, my posts will be later in the day.

"I'll be back..." (spoken with a very slight Austrian/Alien accent)

Gum line

Here is a really good shot of her gum line. That same line I feel everyday wondering if a little nubbin of enamel will be there. Oh, here is also all the drool. And those beautful blue eyes. And those eyelashes that are getting longer and longer. And her two chins.

(don't you just want to nuzzle her neck?)
A cyber salute to all Veterans!! Thank you so very much!!

Hats off to the Original

Yes, I must have a thing for hats. Not everybody can wear a hat and look good in it. I guess I get this fetish from my mom, the original Mimi. She was a hat model when she was a young woman for a department store. She would tell me that you had to have a certain shape head with a certain shape face to carry of any type of hat-wearing. She told me that I could wear any kind of hat because I fit the criteria. (I'm thinking she was slightly biased) Anyway, I guess that it's in my DNA to reach for hats, to try them on, or in Sammy's case, have her try them on. Or it could just be the size of her melon, because looking back at all these pictures I have of her, I have a lot of photos of her in hats. Here is one of my favorites.

Who turned out the lights?

This is what happened last week in the car. Sammy had her little pink hat on, decided to pull it down over her face. Then she fell asleep like that. Mommy and Daddy laughed at her and took her picture with the camera phone.

Saturday morning quiz

Who does Sammy look like the most here:

I couldn't help myself. When I saw this hat, I had to put it on her head. And when I saw it on her head, I had to buy it. Seriously, doesn't this just make you smile?

Tubular Bells

Sammy now is growling. But she's not making a growling face when she does it. She just growls to experiment with the feeling it has on her vocal cords and throat. Or to creep me out.

Equal Opportunity

You had to have expected this, right? This is from Daddy and Mommy.

Putting the sneak on

I bought Sammy a highchair for her to use when she's here. I snuck up on her with the camera to take this picture of her in the highchair for the first time.

And here she is at home that night in her home highchair for the first time enjoying sweet potatoes.

Friendly rivarly

Daddy's cousin in Texas (Hi Yvonne!) threatened to do this. And she did. Most of you know that Daddy is a huge New England Patriots fan. Yvonne is a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. It's slightly combustible, right? Anyway, Yvonne said she was going to buy Sammy a Cowboy's outfit and she did. And I had told her that if she did, it would end up here. So here you go:

MiniMe

Oh yeah...this is Daddy smiling all over again 27 years later

Letting it all hang out

I know you've seen them. You might have been one yourself. What am I talking about? Little kids who stick their tongue out when they are just learning how to write. Sammy here will probably be one of those cuties.
(poor Sofie has seen better days, no?)
Today is election day. Vote. Vote early. Vote often.
