Happy Nevada Day!

Yes, it's true, Nevada Day and Halloween are on the same day, so we native Nevadans have always had a holiday whereas the rest of the nation doesn't. Yea for us! Sammy's little outfit is "Tulip Princess", you know, because there are so many tulips out there right now!

Childhood days

Daddy took Sammy for a walk next to our house the other day. In this area many years ago, Daddy and Auntie would build forts to play in. Of course, now, we've had it cleared out compared to what it once was, all overgrown with willows and brush. I wonder if Sammy will want to make forts here, too, or if Daddy will show her how....or if he will run her off for treaspassing in his play area.

Keep spreadin' the news!

Sammy's shirt says, "I'm beary happy to announce.... I'm the big SISTER!"
Sammy is going to have a brother or sister come next June!

Poke!

Sammy was very interested in Auntie Sissy's belly and belly button. She kept poking at it and they we tried to get Sammy to show us her bellybutton but she wouldn't. It will be fun in a few years to share this picture with the two cousins, won't it?

Daddy's diet

Daddy is really high on nutrition and eating correctly, so this is no surprise to me to see him showing Sammy the ins and outs of midday snacking. MMMmmmmm, Pringles.

Without her ba-ba

Sammy has developed a distinct preference for the Platex bottles all of a sudden. It's been hard to capture a photo of her without one in her mouth and another one in her hand! She enjoyed sitting up on this bench by herself at the mall the other day long enough so that I could take the ba-ba out of the frame and just snap her!

At the mall

Once again, we find ourselves at a mall. Only this time, it was for some picture taking (not mine but professional) for Sammy's 18 month photos. Can you believe she's 18 months old?

I look back at earlier photos of her at 1 year or at 6 months, WOW! What a difference in looks and in ablilities. She's captured our hearts, that's for sure.

Opportunity knocks

I normally don't get a chance to take her picture while she's sleeping because she's in a dark room. The other day however, I had to wake her up (!) from her nap and run an errand and meet Mommy. She was soooo sleepy. I was putting her shoes on her and she fell back asleep. I couldn't resist the opportunity to show you how beautiful she is while she is sleeping.

Cinderella and her pumpkin

Just waiting around for the mice to turn into horses and her fairy godmother to appear...

I found it!

Sammy's getting very good at showing us where her body parts are. This is the really cute stage, you know, the one before she learns how to say, "NO!"

Stank-Eye

It has been very hard to get a photo of Sammy when she does her 'stank-eye' at me. I lucked out here. Her personality is so funny sometimes when she does this because when she does, all we do is laugh at her. So she laughs back at us and we can't get her to do it again for the camera. This was in the middle of 5 or 6 continuous shots that I managed to get with her in focus and not running around! I'm pretty sure that I'll need to keep my camera on continuous shooting from now on.

Fall has arrived

Sammy walks into the house by these decorations in the morning. On Monday she kept peeping out through the window looking at them saying "apple", her word for the small pumpkins. Try as I might, she wouldn't say "miniature pumpkins" or " dumpling squash". Her verbal skills are sorely lacking.

Yea! New photos!

We have some new photos of Sammy with her Nana and her Grampa Ed!

Coulraphobia

Certain members of this family do not care for clowns. In fact, certain members of this family feel that clowns are scary. And this is NOT based on a certain Stephen King novel, either. This clown phobia goes back long before Pennywise ever existed. In fact, certain members of this family feel that these particular photos are just down right mean to have been taken. Certain members of this family will not even look at this blog post either. Everyone who is afraid of clowns raise your hand. (You can't see mine from where you're sitting!)

Ready for Wintertime

This is the new hat and gloves that I got Sammy last week. Mommy told me that she was going to need them this past weekend when they went to a Reunion Weekend in California. We had to make sure that Sammy was toasty and I couldn't pass this one by! She loved the gloves and actually picked up her ba-ba's with the gloves on.

Very first cousin

This is Sammy's very first cousin, Kadence, Auntie McKenna's (Sissy's) and Uncle Dave's first child. (I don't remember Uncle Kyle and Aunt Sheena's dog's name....Bubba? Radar? Butkiss?) But you can definitely see the family resemblance, no? SKYNARD!!

Two fisted drinker

For some reason, Sammy has taken an interest in and with her two Playtex Ba-bas that I've used for her since birth. She prefers these, nay, insists on these two bottles all day long. One to drink from and one to hold onto.

Trolls, wackjobs, and &*^!$#heads

Apparently, some idiot out in internet land has found this blog and has decided to spew forth hate on two of Sammy's pictures. I know longer will accept 'Anonymous' comments. I have deleted their comments as the content was foul and unacceptable. Should any further come through, I will be forced to only accept comments on registered followers that I approve of. It's so disheartening to think that anyone would find wrong on a blog about a baby.

Beddy Bye

Sammy's ideas of comfortable sleeping differ from mine. Hers are more along the lines of a yorkie bed. She has managed to obscond with a bed that is no longer in use by either of my dogs. After washing it, I gave it to her to sit in which she loves to do. Now, clearly, she would like to nap in it.

Pumpkin time

This past weekend, Grumpa and I were grocery shopping when lo and behold! Giant pumpkins! I wanted the biggest one we could fit into the cart. I introduced Sammy to it this morning...her words?

"Uh oh"

Wine tasting

I'm sure that Sammy's ba-ba will not have this in it, but she wanted to try Mommy and Daddy's ba-ba.

HORSE!

This past weekend Sammy and her posse went to a petting zoo in Apple Hill. She had the opportunity to ride her very first LIVE horse. She was not thrilled.

Dandelion

Take a look at her hair...electricified. It reminds me of a dandelion that you would hold up to your face and blow all the seeds into the breeze....

UNCLE DAVE!

You can see that Sammy's Uncle Dave is tickling her feet. And she's stuck in the comfy, cozy corner of the couch. Yeah, Uncles do that sort of thing. Let me out!

Grocery cart frenzy

Don't you wish we could do this in our kitchens, too?

1950's

What does this say about my generation? The last few toys that I've got for Sammy are a shopping cart and a vacuum. I should just give her an iron and a Betty Crocker cookbook to top it all off!

Holiday season

Sammy decided (since she reads soooo much) that she needed to puruse the cookbooks since the holidays are coming up. She was a little disappointed that my cookbooks didn't have pictures of doggies or bears or ducks (duck a l'orange?).

This helps

Sammy has begun to stick her tongue out when she's concentrating. I think that she's not used to feeling those two new bottom teeth...but she sure is cute when she does it!
Also, Mommy told me yesterday that Sammy has begun to climb out of her crib at naptime, open her door and come out to see what's going on. I can only laugh.

Linus

Sammy loves her little blankie that she has slept with here. Now she likes to drag it around with her. Is it naptime already?
