Budding Botanist

The other day we were outside and Sammy became interested in my plant on the patio. The breezes were blowing the leaves around and she kept trying to grab onto them but couldn't reach them. Now if she were standing and walking now, those leaves? Would be mulch.....

Gross

Grumpa started a BAD habit with Sammy that Auntie wants to perpetuate. They both like to show Sammy their tongues with food on it. Sammy thinks it's funny and does it back. Hmmpff. Nice manners.

Giggling

Many of you that use Facebook will have seen this already. This is for those of you who don't use Facebook.

The other day at lunch, Daddy and I were helping Sammy walk between us. She started laughing each time. Mommy grabbed the camera and started video taping this. Sammy had all of us laughing with her antics.

Play Ball

Grumpa gave Sammy this basketball to play with. What Sammy didn't know is that our little dog, Sadie, loves to play with it. Sammy was so tickled by Sadie's playfulness that her 'words' took on even higher pitch.

Golf Girl hat

After seeing Sammy's video where she actually wore Daddy's baseball cap for approximately 10 seconds, I thought I'd try to get a photo of her in a hat here at home. This hat stayed on her head, oh, less than 10 seconds but long enough for me to capture it digitally. She's fast! And I don't think that she's ready for hats just yet...

Grapes

The other day, Auntie Kenna was here eating some grapes. Naturally, Miss Curiousity wanted to know exactly what Auntie was eating, how it felt, did it taste good, could she have some, no wait...MORE! Sammy loves grapes. Mimi doesn't like changing diapers after Sammy eats grapes. Or blueberries. Especially blueberries.

Happy Father's Day 2009

Mommy, Daddy, Great Gramma Jeanne, Auntie Kenna, and Uncle Dave came over to celebrate not only Father's Day but Grumpa's birthday as well. This is Daddy's second Father's Day and it looks like he's getting used to it, doesn't he?

A spoon full of sugar

Everytime I see this photo the Mary Poppins song comes to mind only with Sammy it happens to be a 1/2 cup! She carried this around in her mouth for about 5 minutes.

Happy Father's Day, Daddy! And Happy Birthday, Grumpa!!

Blue

Daddy loves this color on little Sammy and I must say, she's pretty darn cute in it. But my favorite color blue on her is slightly darker. When Mommy puts it on her, I'll take a picture of her in it and post it for you. It really brings out the blue of her eyes...but since this is Father's Day weekend, I'll roll with Daddy's choice on her. Is it just blue? light blue? robin's egg blue, aqua, cyan, cerulean, azure, or cobalt?

On the go!

Sammy is an active baby and when I think about her walking, no, RUNNING around...I know my cardio level will be increasing.

No, over there

Yesterday, after we got home, we helped Mommy and Daddy pick up their new couch at the store. Sammy's empty playroom just got a lot smaller. Now the playroom is known as the family room where Mommy and Daddy can actually sit on a couch and not lawn chairs. But this photo looks like Sammy is directing where to put the sectional because she doesn't like it where it is now.

Bonus Blog...

Sammy refused to take an afternoon nap at home, so I figured I would do some shopping and drive to the farthest place I felt like going. So I drove 20 minutes away and right as I pulled into the parking spot she fell asleep!!!! So I decided to see if she would fit laying down in the shopping cart...voila, she did (sort of). I was in the store for a good 30 minutes and she never woke up until I put her back in her car seat....you should have seen the smiles from people when they saw her asleep and snoring LOUDLY!!!!

Oh Brother....

This is what happens when Daddy is in charge....

I apologize to you for having to watch this sideways, but Daddy thought this was really funny and I can't turn the video around....so for your patience of watching this video, there is a bonus blog...(she looks utterly confused and scared to me :-)

Outdoor Baby

Sorry for the delay...we had some huge thunderstorms last night and lost

power about 3 times, so I didn't have internet connections.

Samantha will do anything to be outside, she loves to watch Daddy work on his pavers. It was pretty cold the other day so she needed some fleece pajamas to be outside, but nothing deters this kid from being outside. Usually we have to tie her to a rope when we are out in the front so she doesn't walk down the street. This walker has REALLY been handy....now when will she actually start walking, I wonder???

Grandpa Ed Visits

Sammy had a very tiring day yesterday with Granpda Ed's visit. She was full of giggles for him, and she even was flirting...uh oh!!!

Taking a moment

I just want to take a moment to thank Mommy AND Daddy for taking care of this blog while Grumpa and I leave for a week's vacation for our anniversary. Both of them know how much I truly appreciate THEIR efforts to help me out. So for the next few days, I'll join the ranks as a reader and not as the author. Can't wait to see what THEY do on it. Daily. And should a day go missing, most of you know their email. Again, Thanks to Mommy AND Daddy!

Thanks for dusting

Daddy has now shown Sammy how to slide down the banister. Only men would do this, you know?

Pants, schmants

These little white pants are so cute. I remember calling them pedal pushers, clam diggers and now capris. Bottom line? Sammy shouldn't wear white diapers with pink and blue and yellow and green Mickey Mouse designs on them in these pants. She needs a nude color diaper. I'm just saying.

Just looking

Sammy has discovered the wonders of my kitchen cabinets. Oh look! Muffin tins. And cookie sheets! And electric fry pans! And rags! And metal bowls that make a great big sound that makes Mimi jump and hold onto the kitchen ceiling light when Sammy pulls them out onto the floor.

Pancakes

Today for breakfast I made little dollar-size pancakes for Sammy. I put a little butter and warm maple syrup on them. Then I diced them up into eeny meeny teeny tiny bits so she can feed herself. Why? BECAUSE SHE MUST FEED HERSELF. She becomes most indignant now if she's not the one throwing food into her face. I make the exception with runny stuff like yogurt but anything else that she can pick up with her fingers, is all hers. I do sit close to her to watch and make sure that the stuffing of the face doesn't include all three pancakes at once and to the catch the plate when she decides she's had enough.

Look who's turned one!

Happy birthday to this blog! Today marks the first complete year of this endeavor I started. Tomorrow will be the anniversary of Mommy going back to work from maternity leave (and me filling in for her at work!) This has been so much fun and I've learned more about blogging in the past year that I ever thought I would. But more importantly, the past year spent with Samantha is one that I will treasure in my heart for eternity. I have been Heaven blessed with our son, his wife and their daughter: Daddy, Mommy, and Sammy. While little Sammy has grown from a mere infant into her first year, I've been able to share with you her achievements: laughing out loud, turning over, rolling over, crawling, first sounds, first tastes of food, standing up, and pretty soon I'll show you her walking.

Mommy told me recently that I can never stop this blog because so many family and friends depend on it for recent news and photos of Sammy. Well. That's a tall order. I pray that we'll have more grandchildren (Auntie Kenna? Uncle Dave? Yes, I'm talking to you!) and I'm thinking that a merge of blogs will be inevitable. I just don't know...YET. Also, I've been asked, "good God...how many pictures do you take of her?" Well...more than necessary I suppose. I average about 40-60 a day. Yes, a day. Now obviously, not all of them make the Blog Cut. Very few do. Also, between Mommy and I (I share all photos with Mommy and Daddy at the end of each month) there are photos that we will print out just for our own use. Also, we usually don't see Sammy over the weekend so I need to take extras for those days when I need something to write about. Have I run out of poses or ideas for photos? No...Sammy is an inspiration to me. I know that I sound like a typical Grandmother, but she truly is with all of her expressions. I'm sure that during the next few years, you will see more of the unhappy expressions emerging through her personality as she grows into her mobility and independence. Grumpa and I laugh over her fits of temper now..."which side of the family did that come from?", we'll ask.
And so, Happy Birthday Daily Samantha. It's been a blast.
