What a helper

Mommy and Daddy have waited until the fall to install their backyard landscaping. In preparation for that, Daddy had to first install the sprinkler system. Sammy believes in being a big help to both her parents.

Blurry

Now that Miss Priss is walking, I find that my photos of her are becoming blurry. I think something's wrong with my camera. I'm pretty sure it's the camera and not the moving child. Stupid camera.

Who knows?

"I don't know.." Sammy is practicing her response to Mommy for when she gets into trouble.

Reading

Sammy hopefully is developing a love of books. Mommy loves to read as do I. And Sammy will let you know when it is book time by grabbing a book she wants and sitting down right in your lap. You then must turn the pages for her and say words from those pages before

A. she's ready for the next page,

B. wants to get another book, or

C. crawls away in disgust because you're reading too slow for her.....

As you can see, this particular book is mandatory reading material in their household.....

Goodbye

Many of you will remember just a few weeks ago, Sammy got to meet her second cousin, Courtney. I did a post about how Sammy has blonde hair just like Courtney. Sadly, Courtney passed away two weeks ago unexpectedly. Today is her Nevada funeral. So, here is a tribute post to Sammy's kissin' cousin, Courtney.

Petting Zoo

Mommy and Daddy doggie-sat our four dogs while we were called away on an emergency earlier last week. When we got back to pick up the dogs, it looked like a petting zoo! Sammy loves the dogs but she is used to our little dogs and their two German short hairs. Our lab and English setter are not known to her. In fact, our setter is CWAZY with energy. While Sammy was outside last week, our setter ran by her and knocked her down. She wasn't hurt but it taught her a lesson that not all doggies are as easy as a Yorkie....

Oh my. Unhappy baby girl. Pretty funny, tho.

More visits

Sammy had more visits from her great grandparents! Lucky girl to have them all. There's something about the eyes here that look familiar to me...anyone else?

Vocabulary

Sammy's vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds. Right now she knows the following: Cheese, Choo choo, Bye bye, Juice, Nose (see photo), Hat, Horse, Hot, Ali, Up, Kitty, Dog, Daddy, Mama, Papa, Sadie, Ginger. I don't know....seems like there are two glaring omissions, don't you, NANA?

Making my mark....

The boys were pouring a concrete slab for the dogs and thought it would be a good idea for Sammy's footprint and handprint to be in the cement. I would have taken a picture of the end result...but uh it didn't turn out so well. But good idea and good try boys!

A Special Visit...

Wawa and Papa (my grandparent's) were on their way back from Sun Valley and they stopped by for a visit. It was great for Samantha to see my grandparents again and she was thrilled to see them, can you tell? She is such a ham!

Lounging....

I don't know what do you think...does she look comfortable?

Uncle Mitch

This is Daddy's best friend and we call him Uncle Mitch...but more importantly he is Samantha's godfather.

And this is what it takes...

Sometimes Samantha fights taking her nap even though she is clearly, CLEARLY ready for it. The red rimmed eyes, the whines, the appearance of the dark cloud over her head....you know those signs. What I've had to do twice now and Daddy once, is put her in the car seat and take her for a ride. On this particular day, I didn't even get out of our subdivision and she conked out. I took this picture when we got back home when I was starting to get her out of her carseat. She was a limp noodle, breathing heavy....down deep into her afternoon nap.

Rocking Horse....

For some reason's Mimi's blog today won't work and she is gone...so here is another video for today :-)

This was my rocking horse when I was a baby, now it is Samantha's! She really likes it, plus she loves to say horse, her new favortie word.

Horse

Another of her new words. Of course, on each page she'll call something a Horse. And not necessarily an animal. It could be a book or grass or an egg. They are all Horse right now. But it's a start.

Hat

Sammy's vocabulary is starting to grow. On her terms, however. Most everything is either Daddy or Dog, but she's sliding in some new words like this.

Sticky mess

This is the aftermath of her first powdered donut. I found powdered sugar BEHIND HER EARS when she was all done.

Fashion Czar

What can I say? I don't mind it when she does this. But I don't think she needs 3 inch heels...right now.

It helps

Among other things, these walker toys that Sammy has been playing has helped her with her walking abilities.

Happy Birthday Grammie Sherill!

New office clerk

Sammy has a talent of making me smile at most everything she does including being an office assistant. Just don't let her open that package of paper because she'll have it everywhere!

All about hunting dogs

Daddy is making sure that Sammy understands the finer points of setters versus pointers versus retrievers ad infinitum.....Sammy knows that she's looking at 'DOGS!'

Bronze Goddess

Mommy loves this photo because it shows Sammy with a slight color to her arms as she cruises the neighborhood in her wagon.

um, this goes on this foot, right?

Sammy has started to take an interest in dressing herself starting with her shoes and socks. By dressing herself, I mean UN-dressing and then re-dressing. But only with her feet. And I'm sure that she has no concept of what 'dressing' means. Or accessorizing.

A place of her own

I recently sent away for and recieved a play tent for Sammy (and her siblings/cousins, etc). This is her first day with it. She really seemed to enjoy it, reading her books, shaking her water cup, and peeking through it.

Weddings 2009

Sammy attended another wedding this past weekend. It was held at the same place of a wedding she went to last summer. Any changes?

Auntie Karen

Many of you may have seen this on Facebook but for those who don't use it, here is Sammy with her Aunt Karen at a friend's wedding. The wedding was very special, but also special was Aunti Karen flying down for it and visiting with all her friends, including our little Samantha.

Jewelry

Sammy's idea of accessorizing is somewhat different than mine. Here she is wearing her great aunt Terry's bracelets...but on her ankles not arms. She loved having them there although they did fall off when she crawled.

The only hike

We only took one hike this year and it was a very easy one, too. (which is totally fine with me!) Sammy enjoyed it because we saw frogs AND horses...bonus!

Teddy Bears

Now this is a teddy bear to fall asleep with!
